Roderick Mutuma struck twice in the second half to help Dynamos continue with their relentless sweep of silverware as they comfortably retained the Mbada Diamonds Cup against Monomotapa at Rufaro yesterday.

The lanky forward completed his brace inside a space of 10 minutes in the 63rd and 72nd minute in almost similar fashion, connecting crosses from the left side by Ocean Mushure and Simba Sithole respectively.

Without counting February’s less glamorous Bob88 Super Cup, this DeMbare crop led by Kallisto Pasuwa successfully defended a league and Cup double for the first time since 1986.

But Pasuwa still refused to wear the “Best Coach” tag.

“I cannot say I am the best, I am still learning the ropes. It is a long learning process,” said Pasuwa yesterday.

With Dynamos captain Tawanda Muparati tasked to police the usually menacing Monoz diminutive midfielder Ronald “Rooney” Chitiyo, a duty he effectively executed, the 2008 league champions were subdued in midfield.

Apparently under-pre-ssure Monoz gaffer Biggie Zuze made three substitutes inside a space of eight minutes, starting by withdrawing Chitiyo on the hour mark in what probably was his biggest undoing.

But Zuze felt his charges succumbed to inferiority complex.

“I think stage fright affected us as most of my players are not used to the nature of such games. Most of them are very young and it was their first Cup final where they came up against experienced players. I am not disappointed with the result. At least we can say we were there,” said Zuze.

Denver Mukamba started pulling the strings in the midfield from the first whistle with Mutuma arriving just late to meet a cross delivered by the Soccer Star of the Year finalist just five minutes into play.

Monoz goalkeeper Artwell Mukandi repulsed Mukamba’s well-taken shot in the 18th minute before Monoz came close to taking the lead three minutes before the break when a Morgan Mungombe curling free-kick went just over the cross bar.

Three minutes from time, a complacent Mukamba somehow failed to beat Mukandi in a one on one situation.
