Going into yesterday’s matches, Bantu Rovers were favourites to join other champions from three other regions as they were at the  top of the log table with 63 points from 31 games while How Mine were second with 62 points from the same number of games.

However, Bantu Rovers let slip the golden chance to bounce back into the Premiership after losing 1-0 to Rufaro Rovers at Luveve.

Bantu Rovers owner, Methembe Ndlovu said his side’s promotion was not meant to be since they failed to make it on the last day of the season.

“We played very well but we got punished after conceding a simple goal from a deflection. I wish the winning team all the best in the Premiership next season. We did not do enough to win the match,” said Ndlovu.

How Mine joins Triangle from the Eastern Region, Tripple B from the Central Region and Northern Region’s Black Rhinos, who have also gained promotion.
