Elebuwa had been battling an undisclosed illness for over a year and was reported to have been responding to treatment in an India hospital where he was being treated until his death.

Meanwhile, the Delta State governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan, has commiserated with the Elebuwa family and the entertainment industry over the death of veteran actor

The governor, in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Sunny Ogefere, said he was shocked that the concerted efforts made by well-meaning Nigerians to save his life did not yield the desired result.

“I am particularly touched because as a renowned Deltan and talented Nollywood actor, Elebuwa still had a lot to offer to Delta, Nigeria and the entertainment world,” he stated.

He prayed that God would  grant the family, Nigerians and colleagues the fortitude to bear the loss.

In the same vein, Director-General (DG) of the  National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mr Mike Omeri, has received with shock the news as regards Elebuwa’s death, describing it as a great loss to the nation.

He said his death came at a time when his sense of patriotism and wealth of experience was most needed to guide younger Nollywood artists in their contribution towards re-orientating Nigerians.

The NOA  boss, who had earlier visited the actor in his hospital ward in Abuja to wish him speedy recovery, said the agency wished the late Elebuwa had survived the illness.

He urged the family of the late actor to find comfort in his legacies and prayed God to grant them and all Nigerians the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss.
