That being said, there are bits we would not mind hiding from everyone else in a bid to look as close to perfection as possible. Below are a few camouflage tips that I have seen work wonders that you can try out:

Blemishes The popular mistake that women make is to apply copious amounts of foundation in an attempt to cover up blemishes. This in turn causes the women to look as though they are wearing a mask because the layer of foundation will be too thick. Instead, apply the right shade of concealer for your foundation.

The concealer will usually be slightly lighter than the foundation so it will lighten the blemish, evening out the complexion once foundation is applied. When you apply concealer, you then need to apply a normal amount of foundation.

Excess weight Control of top underwear is the magic trick. It will not get rid of excess weight or flab but it will give you adequate support. It gives your thighs, hips, stomach and breasts the best shape. Even if you have given birth to and breastfed 10 children, the right bra will ensure that your breasts remain in the chest area instead of the abdominal area. You can also cheat your way to “firmer” thighs, butt and stomach with the help of a regular girdle, extra firm girdle and power panties.

Colour Colour can be used to one’s advantage. Lighter colours tend to make one look bigger than they are while darker colours are for slimming. If you are pear-shaped for instance, you can wear a darker colour at the bottom for slimming while a lighter colour will make you look bigger which is great because your top is lighter than your bottom which is curvier.

Fabric type Some fabrics are less forgiving than others. Lighter weight stretch fabrics tend to cling to and expose every bump and dimple your body has. The idea is to choose flattering fabric. Fabric that flows instead of clings is a good option to hide those dimples. Printed fabrics should be chosen carefully. If you are curvy or big, avoid horizontal stripes because they make you look wider. If you are tall and slim, vertical stripes make you look leaner. Big prints make you look bigger and small prints make you look smaller.

Design Ruching is good for detracting from flabby abdominal areas. Pleats also add volume to the less fortunate in the hip area. Shoulder pads are good for slouchy or narrow shoulders.  A knee length dress or skirt can hide knees or legs you are not proud of. Pockets, ruffles, pleats and peplum are a great choice for women desiring to add volume.  Skinnies elongate legs, so if you are short this is a great option for you.

Hairstyle You can also use your hair to your advantage. I have what I believe is a wide forehead so I often opt for hairstyles with fringes. The thought of exposing my forehead does not sit well with me. I also know of those who loathe the size of their ears and make sure that whatever hairstyle they have will always cover their ears on their behalf.

Ideally, we would all like to strut our stuff and hold our heads up while loving our bodies for just the way they look but that is not always the case. At times we just look in the mirror and think to ourselves, “goodness, why do I have to have this on my body? I wish I could get rid of it”. That is an option the majority of women out there do not have, so we have to use what we have and portray it as best as we can.
