With the voting of the four teams to participate in this competition closing tonight at 23:59pm, FC Platinum had by the end of day on Friday managed to garner 6 450 votes while CAPS United are on second position with 6 338 votes.

Champions Dynamos, who were leading the pack earlier in the week, have slipped to third position with 6 129 votes while Monomotapa are fourth with 5 180 votes.

Highlanders, who ran neck and neck with Dynamos on the championship last season, are surprisingly on position five, with 3 613 votes and could miss out on the tournament if the voting trend continues like this.

A source at the telecommunications giants told Standardsport they were impressed with the way fans were voting for their respective teams.

“The response from the fans has been marvellous. We were impressed by the way FC Platinum supporters were voting. It’s just marvellous,” said the source.

It is understood that the idea of having the matches played on the same day came from SuperSport who will screen the matches live on television.

Organisers to change format The PSL opener, whose total package has not been revealed, might take a new format after indications that the semi-finals will be played at the same venue on the same date.

The organisers are also contemplating on having the final on the same day and venue but out of the capital city.

The proposed date is March 10.

“We are going to start a long journey this week, where we will be monitoring match venues in different parts of the country to see where we can stage our matches.

We will start with visits to Mandava in Zvishavane, Bulawayo, Gwanda and Masvingo. What I can tell you is that all this is not going to happen in Harare. we have subscribers all over the country, so we have to be out there with our subscribers,” added the source.
