Brothers of the late businessman claim that Hazel, his widow, has not been cooperative in their bid to distribute the belongings.

The brothers accuse Hazel of stalling their efforts to conduct the traditional ritual of settling the estate.

On the other hand, things seem uncertain in J Masters’ automobile businesses.

The business premises are now deserted but one of his brothers, Jingo, says the family is not worried about the business but the distribution of his clothes and personal belongings.

The family claims Hazel has been evasive.

However, when StandardLife&Style spoke to Hazel, she dismissed the claims.

“Don’t you know how my in-laws behave? I am surprised they are still pursuing that case,” she said.

“They do not want to leave me in peace. They know what I will do if they keep troubling me. I can get them arrested.”

Asked if she was playing hide-and-seek with her in-laws, the woman laughed it off as a mere farce.

Pressed with more questions, she discontinued the call. Efforts to contact her further were fruitless.

Jingo however labelled Hazel a liar, but stressed the family was not worried about anything else other than the customary ceremony to distribute his small personal belongings.

“What the family is worried about is that we are yet to distribute his personal belongings.

“February 21 was the third anniversary of his death and that is when we had planned to hold the ceremony but she (Hazel) is nowhere to be found.”

Jingo said a lot of people have approached him and his brother inquiring about Hazel’s whereabouts.

“To us that is not the matter. We only want her to come back so that we can distribute Joe’s clothes and other belongings.

“Most of our brother’s children we have been looking after are now grown up. We do not want anything from her but we know, as per our customs, these belongings will trouble her later.”

Jean, one of J Masters’ daughters professed ignorance on the goings-on in her father’s estate.

“I do not know anything about it and I think my step-mother (Hazel) knows better since she takes care of everything,” said Jean. Jean has taken over her father’s music but is not in good books with her step-mother.
