Mbira songstress Diana Samkange has established a new recording stable that will assist upcoming artists.

The stable was named Mangwenya after her style of playing the mbira instrument.

Speaking to Standardlife&style last week, Samkange said she has decided to have her own recording stable so as to work on her different projects, as well as give upcoming artists a hand in their quest to record new projects.

The mbira diva said she was inspired to come up with the project after realising how upcoming artists sometimes suffered due to lack of attention from established music stables.

“As an artist, it is beneficial  to work on a number of projects within the industry, so as to widen my reach,” said Samkange.

“Music stables that are owned and run by artists are sensitive to our basic needs and this is the time to show the world that we can assist each other in coming up with new productions.”

The musician, who is currently riding high with her new album Kumaziva Ndadzoka, said she would also use the stable to scout for talent among female musicians.

“I had a very humble beginning and I feel it’s now high time I give my input to these young girls who wish to get into the studio.

“With the coming of this stable, we have decided to reach out to upcoming musicians and ensure they do not suffer in their prime as we did because of rejection,” she said.
