Karuru has fallen out with his coach Ronny Geneugden at OH Leuven and has not featured in any of the Jupiler League side’s four matches this season.

The 24-year-old has agreed personal terms with Oostende and is expected to complete his move this week.

Karuru’s agent Ralph Nkomo said the player was expected to sign for Frederik Vanderbiest-coached Oostende on Tuesday.

Karuru was involved in a nasty clash with Geneugden last season and their relationship has been severely strained since then.

“It was just a small incident fuelled by differences in personalities. African players are very important in Europe and many coaches know that. Coaches have to understand African players because these guys would be coming from different backgrounds,” Nkomo said.

“Negotiations are at an advanced stage and we hope to seal a deal by Tuesday or Wednesday latest. He will not go for trials at Oostende because they have already watched him and are impressed by his play.

He was one of the best players at Leuven but it is just that the environment is no longer conducive for him to continue playing there.”

The former Masvingo United and Gunners player made 21 appearances for Leuven last term.

Karuru joined Leuven in June last season after a three-season stint at French side US Boulogne.

Boulogne, who are former club to world star Frank Ribery, have been relegated twice in the last two seasons and now ply their trade in the French Third Division, the Championnant National.

Meanwhile, Mushekwi is expected to make his Oostende debut this evening against Zulte-Waregem at home.

Oostende have had a terrible start to the Jupiler League season after losing three of their four matches with only a point gained from a draw, ironically against Leuven.
