The musician, who has a huge following in the country, will share the stage with local gospel musicians Zim Praise, Beauty James and Mathias Mhere, among other local artists.

Show organisers said they decided to bring Lundi into the country a week before the event to assure his fans about the show and avoid last year’s blunder when the musician’s show was cancelled in the eleventh hour when he was deported.

“Lundi will be in the capital on Sunday [today], a week before the main event and this is meant to assure fans that he is here following last year’s incident when the show was cancelled after he was deported,” show promoter and musician James said.

Lundi last performed in the country three years ago. In November last year Lundi was deported after the show organisers Praise Kingdom failed to secure a work permit for him.

“Torumbidza Season 1 is an event that is meant to be an annual show,” James said.

“Lundi’s music inspires a lot of people and he has lots of fans in the country and we are expecting a good turnout at the show.” Lundi began his career as a backup singer for the great Rebecca Malope and was noticed by producer Tshepo Nzimande.

Immediately spotting Lundi’s great potential, Tshepo set out to help him launch his first ever solo album.

Usually when Lundi performs in the country, hits like Mina Ngithemb’ uJesu and Ngiyabonga light up his shows.

The concert promises to be a thriller, as gospel musician Mathias Mhere is well- known for putting up scintillating performances.

Multi-talented Zim Praise, which is riding high with the song Sungano, is fast-becoming a household name on the gospel music arena. The large group is proving to be Zimbabwe’s answer to popular South African gospel ensemble Joyous Celebration.
