Needing just a single point going into yesterday’s match, ZPC Kariba got their goals through Raphael Manuvire, who scored a memorable brace and second half substitute Livison Salous.

Takudzwa Chimwemwe scored the face saver for Twalumba in the 40th minute.

An elated Jostein Mathuthu who at one point also helped Kambuzuma United gain promotion, attributed the team’s success to dedication.

“We had self-belief. I am happy with the way the boys played. They showed discipline throughout the season,” Mathuthu said.

Zesa Holding official Shepherd Mandizvidza, said they are going to continue supporting the team.

“Nothing is going to change as far as supporting the team is concerned. Our promise is that we are not going to take the team away from the people of Kariba. We have three options to use as home ground, but we will inform you later,” Mandizvidza said. ZPC Kariba, parading an array of experienced players such as Stephen Matsangaise, Pride Tafirenyika and Tinei Chitora started the match strongly and it came as no surprise when they got the opener in the 19th minute through Manuvire.

However, Twalumba had other ideas as they equalised four minutes from half-time through the exciting Chimwemwe, whose free kick from the edge of the box found the mark. He however earned himself a yellow card from referee Norman Matemera for celebrating in front of ZPC Kariba fans, who responded by throwing missiles onto the pitch.

With the match seemingly headed for a draw, Salous pounced in the 90th minute before Manuvire killed the match as a contest five minutes later.
