The army side, who were crowned Central Region Division One champions, are said to be at an advanced stage to land the services of Tripple B forward Aleck Marime and former Monomotapa skipper Kudakwashe Musharu.

The two are understood to have reached a gentlemen’s agreement with the club.

The Gweru-based outfit opened preliminary negotiations with the duo before the conclusion of the 2013 premiership season and have now intensified their interest following the relegation of the players’ respective clubs from top flight football.

Waru Waru are also hoping to snatch Shabanie Mine central midfielder Fungai Chirinda as coach John Nyikadzino harbours doubts over the ability of his current squad to stand the heat in premiership.

“We have a good squad that can do the business in the Premier League but there are areas I think need to be bolstered.

“Aleck, Kudakwashe and Fungai are all very good players,” said Nyikadzino.

Although Nyikadzino declined to comment about their transfer targets, a source within the army side told Standardsport that the deal to bring the trio to Gweru was a mere formality.
