ZIMBABWE boxer Tapiwa Tembo is still battling to recover money he used in preparation for the postponed WBU Bantamweight world title fight against Zambia’s Gibon Kamota.

The fight was postponed to December 22 after Zimbabwe Boxing Board of Control (ZNBBC) adjudged that the promoters Deltaforce Boxing Promotions did not meet the set rules to host the world title fight.
Tembo, who is based in Cape Town, South Africa, is entitled to 40% of the US$2 500 prize money but claims they told him that there was no money.
“I need some money my brother. They have to pay me and it is there in the contract. I asked people at Deltaforce Boxing Promotions and they told me that they can’t do anything. I used more than
US$3 000 in preparing for this fight,” he said from his base in South Africa.
Deltaforce Boxing Promotions chairperson Clyde Musonda said they would pay the boxer after the next rescheduled fight.
“We told him that he will be paid his cash after the December 22 fight. We also made a loss and we hope to recover in December,” he said.
