The tournament will be held at the school with the proceeds set to assist the school’s football team which will travel to Cape Town in South Africa in April.

Speaking to Standardsport, the chairman of the event Walter Mhariwa said the event was set to give awareness to these diseases, especially to school-going kids.

“The idea is to have awareness of these non-communicable diseases. What we are going to do is to open invites to all schools as well, as community teams that would want to join. We are going to have different age groups starting from Under-11, 13, 16 and the open category. We will have a team of seven players, five first team players and two substitutes,” Mhariwa said.

He said there would be doctors that would then conduct tests for some of these diseases.

“We will be having doctors here who will be doing tests for some of these diseases,” he said.

Registration for the event has been pegged at US$25 with top teams in all the categories set to walk away with prizes.

Corporates will also be given a chance to advertise their products for a fee.
