CAPS United shot to the top of the log table after beating Chicken Inn at Luveve yesterday.
The Green Machine temporarily moved to top spot for the first time this season with 26 points from 14 games while Chicken Inn are still on position seven with 20 points from the same number of games.
The visitors scored first through Hardlife Zvirekwi in the 33rd minute before Moses Muchenje grabbed the second 34 minutes later with Chicken Inn getting the consolation from Bhekimpilo Ncube in the 76th minute.
Chicken Inn coach Joey Antipas conceded that they had endured a torrid afternoon where they failed to play as a team.
“We didn’t play our normal game. I give credit to CAPS, they were the better team and they deserved to win,” Antipas said.

It was a good result for CAPS United who were without head coach Taurai Mangwiro who is attending a CAF A licence course in Harare with assistant coach Mike Madziwanyika taking charge.
“The boys deserved it. It was a good result, they really worked hard for it. We gave away a soft goal that put pressure on us. The victory means a lot to us,” he said.
Meanwhile, in Chiredzi, Kenneth Nyangani reports chaos continued to haunt Premiership side Chiredzi FC after Moses Chunga refused to surrender the players’ licences delaying their clash against Harare City at Chishamiso yesterday.
Chiredzi players had to go for a verification process for the match to go ahead. Harare City scored through Martin Vengesai and James Jamu while Chiredzi scored through Wellington Kamudyariwa in the 51th minute.
Chunga, who did not attend yesterday’s match, allegedly fled with both the match and training jerseys and soccer balls.
Chunga defied a court interdict which was served to him on Friday evening barring him from interferring in any way with the Chiredzi FC operations.
Part of the letter in possession of Standardsport which cited Chunga as the respondent read; “Respondent is ordered not to interfere in anyway with the operations of the applicant.
Respondent and all other persons acting through him or on his instructions is interdicted from setting his foot from the applicant’s training ground,” read the interdict.
