WARRIORS assistant coach Saul Chaminuka says Zimbabwe needs to register a healthy win over visiting Lesotho

WARRIORS assistant coach Saul Chaminuka says Zimbabwe needs to register a healthy win over visiting Lesotho this afternoon at Barbourfields Stadium to boost their chances of qualifying for the 2015 edition of the African Nations Championships (Chan) tournament.

Chaminuka was in charge of the Warriors’ final training session yesterday morning at the match venue, in the absence of head coach Kalisto Pasuwa, who was said to be attending to some pressing family matters.

The Buffaloes coach described today’s match as a must-win encounter.

“We need to win this game and our aim is to win by a big margin. But even if we win by a slender margin, that would be okay, as what is important is registering a victory and making sure we do not concede,” Chaminuka said.

The Warriors rarely get to play in Bulawayo and Chaminuka urged fans to come in their numbers and be their 12th man.

Highlanders striker Knox Mutizwa, whose side uses Barbourfields as their home ground, expressed optimism that he would carry on with his league’s impressive form if given a chance to line up against Lesotho.

“We are looking forward to a good performance at Barbourfields. Hopefully, I will extend my league’s displays if I am to feature in the game tomorrow [today],” Mutizwa said.

“I am aware that a lot will be expected from me and Edmore [Chirambadare] since we are the top scorers in the league, but I am confident that we will deliver the results,” he said.

Chaminuka said the Warriors’ medical team had certified all the players that had been carrying injuries as fully recovered.

The match officials for today’s encounter are from Tanzania, with the match referee being Sheha Waziri and the first assistant Samuel Hudson Mpenzu, while the second assistant’s name is Ali Kinduli.

The match commissioner is William Makinati Shangwe from Swaziland.
