Chapeta, a veteran football administrator, is among the four candidates that have declared their interests to run for the Central Soccer Region chairperson’s post which became vacant after the former boss Felton Kamambo was elected into the Zifa national board last year. The other candidates in the running for the post are Musa Ntonga, Brian Chishanga and former boss Patrick Hokonya, who is poised to make a dramatic comeback.

The Central Region board member administration said the region has for the past years been failing to secure sponsorship.

“I have already secured sponsorship for the region. The sponsor has confirmed that he is prepared to work with me if I am elected into office,” he said.

“Two other potential sponsors have also promised to come on board, but I am yet to finalise the deals. So, as it stands, the region is guaranteed of one sponsor if I am elected into office.”

However, Chapeta refused to reveal the identity of the sponsor.

“[That] will remain a secret and can only be made public after the elections,” he said.
