ZPC Kariba . . . (0) 0 Chapungu . . . (0) 0 ZPC KARIBA coach Sunday “Mhofu” Chidzambwa was disappointed after his side blew a golden opportunity to close in on log leaders Highlanders after being held to a goalless draw by Chapungu at Nyamhunga Stadium yesterday.

The hosts, who came into yesterday’s encounter after an away defeat to Bosso last weekend, could not bounce back in style as they struggled to create clear cut chances against a stubborn Chapungu side.

“It’s not a good result for us at all as we were hoping to reduce the gap between us and the other teams at the top. Our opponents came here to defend, but we failed to create meaningful chances and in the end were made to pay for it by dropping two points at home,” said a disappointed Chidzambwa.

ZPC could have opened the scoreline in the fifth minute, but Never Tigere’s free kick missed the target after Munyaradzi Kunyarimwe was fouled just outside Chapungu danger zone. Another ZPC chance went begging in the 15th minute when Elvis Meleka’s shot narrowly missed the left upright after being fed by ineffective Wisdom Mutasa.

Chapungu had their chances too when Collen Kwaramba’s speculative shot went wide in the 38th minute.

The first half was reduced to speculative shooting as chances were few and far in between as both sides seemed more content on keeping a clean sheet than throwing caution to the wind.

Even the half time break could not breathe life into the encounter as both teams continued with their cautious type of play while missing the few chances they created, much to the disappointment of the spectators.

Chapungu felt hard done in the 70th minute when Sylvester Appiah appeared to have handled inside the box in a bid to clear, but referee Ruzive Ruzive waved play on. Teams:
