AFTER mesmerising fans with a rendition of music superstar Oliver Mtukudzi’s song Neria and being voted the best at The Voice South Africa singing competition, Zimbabwean and South Africa-based artist Jeremy Olivier has found himself sharing the stage with the man he idolises — Tuku.

Tuku travels to South Africa for three shows — two in Cape Town and another one in Durban — this month. The shows are meant to celebrate his life in music and promote his 65th album Eheka! Nhai Yahwe.
For young Olivier, it will be a dream come true to share the stage with Tuku at the gigs running under the banner Mukuru Tuku Mzansi Birthday Tour.
Organisers of the show Xtratime Entertainment confirmed that Olivier was part of a star-studded group of artists warming up the stage for Tuku.
“Zimbabweans in Durban and Cape Town are in for a treat as the line-up for Tuku’s South African tour has exciting supporting acts,” said Tonderai Mwaita of Xtratime Entertainment.
“Our own boy Jeremy Olivier who earlier this year was voted best at The Voice South Africa singing competition, singing Tuku’s hit song Neria has been included on the line up as a guest performer.”
Mwaita said the Mukuru Tuku Mzansi Birthday Tour was meant to celebrate the legendary singer’s 64th birthday and 65 albums with his South African fans.

Tuku will also be supported by a number of Zimbabwean artists based in South Africa, who include urban grooves sensation TK Hollan, Gwenyambira and The Band, DJ Wilson, Paddy Watts as well as Afro-soul singer Shame “Shamie” Mabvudzi, who will perform with his partner in arts South African performance poet Haroldene Tshienda.
Olivier grew up in Chinhoyi and ventured into music at the age of 14. After completing his A-Levels in Harare, he moved to South Africa to pursue a career in music and obtained a degree in Jazz Performance from the University of Cape Town.
He is a world class guitarist and vocalist and surrounds himself with Cape Town’s finest musicians. His Long Street Premium Band is the perfect fit for any function or event and they have so far recorded one album.
