Music has a place where it sounds best, where the tunes ring out and resonate with the best and this is at Diamond Musica, according to band leader Pitshou Lumiere.

The elegant rhumba outfit had not released anything since 2013 when they released Amai, but Lumiere said the new single titled Diamond Fire was a scorcher.
Rhumba fans are already enjoying the new single which will be launched in Harare next week. The song is already drawing comparisons to the group’s best offing, the This Is Good album, which was released at the turn of the millennium. The album had popular tracks such as Amaule and Sinamakosa.
“Without music, life would be a mistake and without Diamond Musica, music catalogue in Zimbabwe will be incomplete. We are part of the jigsaw puzzle and our failure to follow up with a release after Amai in 2013 starved our fans of new songs but we are now back with a hit. This is real fire, that’s why we called it Diamond Fire because it’s very hot on the market, fans are really enjoying it,” said Lumiere.
The Diamond Musica leader who is the founding member together with Liva Hassan Sulitan dispelled the notion that they had been quiet because of the competition from other genres such as sungura and Zimdancehall. He said rhumba had its own unique particulars which fans will never lose taste of.
“We haven’t been really quiet but we were repackaging ourselves through countrywide tours. In every sphere of life, you go through self renewal and actualisation to move with trends on the market, thus we have come up with an Afro-fusion to our music. We have also introduced a new dance called Katetete, which is proving to be very popular with fans. We are promising fans that in 2017, they are going to see what they have never seen before, because we are Diamond Musica Shumba Inogara Yega Musango,” he said.
The Congolese ensemble which is being managed by Raldane Mhike of Evonik Events recently brought in dancing queens from the Democratic Republic of Congo who have added a new entertainment flare.

Diamond Musica, who are the longest serving and one of the pioneers of rhumba music in Zimbabwe, are part of the groups to perform at the Independence Gala scheduled for the Glamis Arena on April 17.
