The event, the first of its kind in Zimbabwe, will be held on Saturday.

According to organisers, the platform brings like-minded women together for “a mutual resolution which is to invest, motivate and inspire harmony and interdependence among women from different credentials and races”.

The High Tea event also brings with it mentorship programmes for young women coming from deprived backgrounds.

Founded by Bulawayo business coach and voice-over artist Bonnie Chimanikire and lawyer Ntombizodwa Sibanda, The High Tea aims at chaining empowerment, food and fashion to draw women in business, ambitious and prominent women in communities.

“We are looking forward to meeting young women confident of gaining knowledge, unity, support and resources across a wide range of industries and interests,” said Chimanikire.

Speakers will include Karen Mutasa, a Zimbabwean businesswoman and Noni Zwangobani, the director of technical services at the Zimbabwe National Family Planning Council.

Business and leadership strategist Noreen Makosewe from the United Kingdom and Zari Hassan — a Ugandan entrepreneur, as well as television host and entrepreneur Authur Evans will also be among the speakers.

“Come and enjoy an afternoon filled with learning, pampering and entertainment,” added Chimanikire.

She said The High Tea will also host a fashion showcase from Zimbabwe’s finest designers based locally and abroad.

Entertainment will be provided by Neo-Soul, Prayersoul, Caroleen Masa, Tytan Skhokho and I Am Langa.

Chimanikire said she and her colleague were concerned about women and had joined forces in an attempt to change the chronicle around women in business. The two had their maiden High Tea event in November 2015 in Johannesburg, South Africa.

“The guests will enjoy a lavish afternoon with a various selection of teas, coffees, juices, soft drinks and wines escorted by a tasty classic High Tea menu of aromatic and sweet finger foods set by the in-house chef,” Chimanikire said.
