The beauty spa provides world- class spa experience and offers a broad spectrum of services that include hairdos, manicures, pedicures, waxing, facials, body treatments, eyelash extension, reflexology for all age groups.

Founded in 2012 by Susan Matemachani, who is also into the interior design business, the spa boasts of 12 qualified therapists and hairdressers and is in the process of rebranding in line with the ever-changing beauty environment.

“The rebranding will ensure the addition of space designed for male clients,” she said.

Although Matemachani faces stiff competition from a number of other beauty spas, she said she does not feel threatened because she was doing her best to satisfy clients.

“The business thrives on relationships with your clientele. It has nothing to do with trends, like you would have in fashion,” she said.

“It’s about how strong one believes in the person who provides the service and how much you trust them, because you are almost saying ‘I’m trusting you with my body and I am also trusting the fact that you are going to respect the fact that I am opening my body to you, which is something people don’t do for many people,’” she said, adding that they now had a male therapist.

“A lot of times people prefer females because you find more females in the industry as opposed to males, but this is only applicable to African countries in this part of the world. If you go to Europe for instance, it’s very normal to see males in this line of business.

“While in this part of the world people take a big step back when it comes to having a massage done by a man, if you want a deep tissue massage you need strong hands, and you can only get strong hands in a man. It takes very professional men to do that. So we are finding there is a little resistance, with men a bit resistant to having another man do their treatment, yet if you need a sports massage, it is better for a man to do it. So we are trying to get our community to accept that it is okay to have your treatment done by a male.”

Her sentiments were echoed by the spa’s marketing manager Clotilda Mango, who said success in the beauty business was defined by how one presented themselves to clients and how one offered treatments.

Timeless Beauty Spa takes pride in that they only use commercially-recognised products such as Environ, Mediheel, Medihand, Moya.OPI, Luxio, Sally Hansen, Melinda, Lycoon and Planet Nails and boasts of having a hair section that is open from Monday to Saturday.

Contrary to many people’s beliefs, having a massage is no longer a preserve for the rich and famous. According to Matemachani, it is not a luxury but a necessity as it has its positives that include relaxation of muscles, relieving muscle tension, increasing blood flow, increasing flexibility, promoting physical wellness, as well as reducing stress and mental fatigue.
