Moyo took his goals tally in this year’s campaign to six after scoring a brace and after the match he declared that he would go on to lift the Top Goal Scorer Award at the end of the season.

“I think I played very well but credit should also go to my teammates because they complemented me well. I am confident that I will surpass the 10 goals that were scored by Bukhosi Sibanda before he left for South Africa and I have already promised my coach that this year I will walk away with the Golden Boot,” Moyo said.

The 30-year-old Moyo opened his scoring account on 40 minutes when he converted a penalty that he himself had won after he was brought down inside the penalty box by veteran Shabanie Mine captain William Mapfumo.

He grabbed his brace on 79 minutes when he coolly slotted home from close range after the visitors’ defence had failed to deal with a long throw in by Bulawayo City right back Andrew Tandi.

The veteran striker then turned provider when he set up substitute Newman Sianchali to rifle home and put the final nail on the Shabanie Mine coffin.

Shabanie Mine coach Takesure Chiragwi attributed his side’s defeat to defensive mistakes.

“We played well and created some good chances in the first half but failed to score. If you look at the goals that we conceded, they were a result of mistakes by our defenders but as a coach, I have to accept the defeat and we need to go back and rectify our mistakes,” Chiragwi said.

Bulawayo City took their points tally to 24 after yesterday’s win and swapped places with Shabanie Mine on the log. The asbestos miners have 22 points to their credit.
