For all their dominance in the first half, Harare City had no right to endure a frantic end to the match as Tsholotsho came back firing from all cylinders.

But the Harare outfit managed to cling on to maximum points.

“There is no bad win. We wanted the three points and we got them and we are happy. We could have scored five or six goals in the first half and in the second half we relaxed and had to grind the result in the end,” said Harare City coach Philani Ncube after the match.

Tsholotsho coach Darlington Dodo, who had led his charges to two consecutive wins in their previous matches to move from the bottom of the log, blamed in-house problems for the loss.

“It’s unfortunate that there are some things that happened behind the scenes that disturbed the team. We have been working hard in the second half of the season and results have been coming but I am not sure if we are on the same page,“ he said.

The hosts were dominant from the first whistle, but failed to find the target until Vengesai struck in the 26th and 29th minutes.

Lucky Nyathi — the best Tsholotsho player on the day — pulled a goal back in the 64th minutes.

He went on a mazy run before unleashing a shot that hit the cross bar before bouncing beyond the line.

Dictating the pace, the visitors had numerous chances but could not find the equaliser.

Edwin Madhanhanga could have killed the match as a contest for the hosts later on, but Mariyon Chang produced a brilliant low save.
