EX-ZIMBABWE international forward Quincy Antipas is living up to the “old” adage — age is nothing but a number — as he continues to roll back the years in the Danish Superliga following a string of impressive performances in recent weeks.

The 33-year-old former Motor Action and CAPS United striker appears to have rediscovered his goal scoring prowess after struggling with injuries and fitness problems in his last two campaigns at Danish side Hobro IK.
Last week the former Prince Edward School pupil reflected on his purple patch during the Danish Superliga regular season where he scored six goals and provided two assists in 18 appearances to inspire his team to the championship playoffs after the winter break.
It’s only the second time in his Danish football career that Antipas has scored over five goals in a season since scoring nine times for SønderjyskE during the 2011/2012 season.
“I’ve worked hard and I’ve been patient. I have always believed I would come back and it feels fantastic that I have now managed it,” Antipas told the Danish publication bold.dk.
“But I believe I can get even better. I can get in better shape, because I had a hard time in the middle of autumn, but it’s only natural when you’ve been out for two years.
“I felt towards the end of the autumn that I peaked more, but it will be good for me (during the playoffs), because I’m coming back even stronger.”

“I need to be more effective, participating in several crucial situations, especially when it comes to assists, because that’s what I was good at a few seasons ago,” he said.
Antipas’ near-decade long career in Danish football looked to have run its course when he suffered a career threatening injury which kept him on the sidelines for the better part of the 2015/2016 season.
A year earlier he had endured the agony of sitting out the entire season after undergoing surgery following an ankle injury.
Last season Antipas made only one start for Hobro IK in the first division as they went on to book a ticket back to the topflight league.
Hobro IK coach Thomas Thomasberg said he was impressed by Antipas’ return to form and how he has complemented the club’s leading scorer Pål Kirkevold who has scored 13 goals.
“Antipas must be given great praise because for someone of his age to perform the way he has done is impressive.
He has also been one of the reasons that Pål has done well, because the opponents put more focus on Quincy.
“Pål has received all the praises so far, but Quincy really deserves praise for a good fall,” says Thomasberg.
Antipas joined the then newly-promoted Danish Superliga side Hobro IK in 2014 on a two-year deal from giants Brondby, where he is considered a legend after almost single-handedly saving the club from relegation in 2013.
Since arriving in Denmark almost 10 years ago, Hobro is Antipas’ fifth club in the Scandinavian country after also turning out for lower division side Blokhus, HB Koge, giants Brondby and Sonderjyeske.
The former Motor Action man has also played in Morocco for Moghreb Tetouan and MAS Fez.
