An interdenominational choir has recorded a DVD album featuring over 20 video tracks put together by prominent gospel singer Kuda Mutsvene.
By Sandra Maricho in Gweru
Mutsvene, brother of gospel diva Mercy, was in Gweru recently where he mobilised 25 musicians, going by the stage name New Creation Asande Choir, to record a live DVD album. The event was oversubscribed with a crowd of over 1 000 fans.
Members of the choir were drawn from churches such as the Roman Catholic, Anglican, Harvest House, Dutch, Seventh Day Adventist and several others from pentecostal denominations.
Titled Winning Souls to Christ, it is the second one after the debut titled Winning Souls to Christ Volume 1.
The toast of the day was when Mutsvene took to the stage and teamed up with former Zimpraise band member Mai Maningi, Moreen Sifelani and Anthia Mushungupa to liven up the show.
The choir’s executive president Brightness Ncube said the event surpassed their expectations in terms of attendance. He also thanked businessman Nkosikhona Ndlovu, aka Umdala Wethu, for sponsoring the recording and camping.
“We were camped at a private residence paid for by businessman Nkosikhona Ndlovu for a week. He also paid for the instruments that we used and we thank him for all that,” said Ncube.

Ndlovu’s spokesperson Tino Mhungu said the businessman would continue sponsoring such events in order to uplift the lives of people in Gweru.
“Mr Ndlovu has in the past made such gestures and he has also sponsored talent shows and workshops for the young,” he said.
