After recently challenging fellow Zimbabwean Dereck Chisora, Moyo went into the bout needing to not only beat Pedyura, but do it in some style to impress his countryman, who has so far snubbed the challenge.

The Bomber, as Moyo is affectionately known, needed just two minutes and 49 seconds to blast Pedyura into submission as the Ukrainian offered very little resistance, going down several times in the opening round.

Moyo’s clash against Pedyura was the toast of Kalakoda Promotions’ and Kwesé Sport’s Friday Fight Night Series bill which featured a good mix of up-and-coming and established Zimbabwean talent.

It turned out to be a very successful night for Zimbabwean boxers as they put up a splendid show.

In another big fight on the undercard, WBF African cruiserweight champion Chamunorwa “Sting” Gonerenda survived a first round scare, when he kissed the canvas before recovering to beat Djokito Sakuji of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The Congolese retired in the fifth round of the international cruiserweight non-title fight due to a shoulder injury.

The main event of the evening was a national super-bantamweight bout featuring Tinashe “Chairman” Madziwana and Ronald “Captain” Tamani, who is coached by former Commonwealth champion Arifonso Zvenyika.

Madziwana won the entertaining match by a TKO to become the Zimbabwe super-bantamweight champion, when referee Kingstone Jokonya stopped the fight after Tamani had sustained a deep cut above the eyelid.

Wesley “Shumba” McDade overwhelmed Bright Mdoka of Malawi, winning the international super-middleweight bout in two minutes 50 seconds of the second round. Zimbabwe’s first ever female professional boxer Monalisa Sibanda was floored by Chiedza Homakoma inside the first minute of the first round of their scheduled 10 round national lightweight title bout.
