Gatawa’s music is soaring to greater heights with the assistance of her supportive husband Tinevimbo, who pens the powerful lyrics of her songs that have captivated many a gospel fan and the pair are now the envy of many married couples.

The gospel diva told The Standard Style last week that her latest production, an album titled album Wedzerai Nyasha, would be accompanied by a DVD that is going to be released this month.

“Judging from the hard work we have been putting into our productions, also from the overwhelming response that we are getting from listeners, it is clear that we are heading in the right direction,” she said, oozing with confidence that exudes from a faith- filled Christian.

Gatawa has recorded two albums so far, her debut released in 2013 titled Zvinoita Nyasha that came with the popular song Mwaka Wenyasha that received its fair share of airplay with the video being the most outstanding, followed by Wedzerai Nyasha in 2016 that was recorded at Voice of Thunder Studios by Gibson Makumbe, which featured popular gospel minister Mathius Mhere on the song Wanzai Nyasha.

Besides recording her own projects, Gatawa has assisted other artistes in backing vocals such as Rodgers Bepete and Pardon Chitatu, just to mention a few.

She has also been doing shows in many cities across the country as there was need to promote their brand of music which is fast-gaining popularity.

So what is her secret to success?

“The Holy Spirit is my greatest inspiration and the Word of God, my fellow gospel ministers are also my inspiration, particularly Bethen Pasinawako and Baba naMai Charamba working together as a couple inspires us also as a couple,” she said.

“I was raised by my parents in a Christian way, so the Word of God and the love for Him inspired and ushered me to be a gospel minister.”

Gatawa said her union with her husband has cemented her success as the two are equally yoked.

“My biggest testimony in my career is my husband. God realised that I am talented in singing and my husband being talented in writing the songs and He joined us to together and work together as a couple,” she said.

The couple is blessed with two children — a girl Tavonga and a boy Tinevimbo Junior.

The Standard Style spoke to Tinevimbo, who attributed everything to God, saying what his wife was doing was not of her own.

“It’s a fulfilment of God’s mandate and commandment as stated in Matthew 28 verse 19. Where you assume God’s mission, He will definitely give to you grace to make it possible,” he said.

“I do a lot of composing and she does arrangement of our music and vocals and that coordination and understanding of each other’s talent also makes it easy to come up with our songs which are mainly centred on the importance of grace in one’s salvation.”

He said they were facing many challenges especially over finances to hold live shows to reach out to more souls through the teachings of God ingrained in their songs. “We need money and sponsors. These days it’s very hard to find gospel music sponsors,” Tinevimbo said.

The Gatawas have a special message to their fans thanking them for their unwavering support and urging them to get ready for the new DVD, Wedzerai Nyasha.
