Dynamos legend Moses “Bambo” Chunga has revealed his interest in the vacant job at the struggling Harare football giants, saying the decision to hire him is entirely up to the club.

Chunga has been unattached since leaving Harare City in December last year and his show of interest comes when the DeMbare leadership has intensified its search for a new coach after an unspiring job by interim boss Biggie Zuze.

Bambo was initially hesitant to comment on his availability for the Dynamos job when contacted by Standardsport yesterday.

“How can I comment about what’s happening at Dynamos when I’m an interested party?” the ex-Warriors talisman quipped.

The 2009 Premier Soccer League winning coach with Gunners, however, revealed that he was willing to assist his former club if approached.

“I’m always available and willing to help wherever possible, but the decision rests entirely with the club,” he said.

Chunga, who has been concentrating on his Waterfalls-based academy, also weighed in on the on and off-field problems bedevilling Dynamos.

“Like what I have always said before, in all things you need to have the right human resources to succeed. You cannot succeed when you have a situation where you’ve got a sheep leading a pride of lions like what’s happening at Dynamos now,” Chunga said without elaborating.

Dynamos are in the midst of a crisis with the club seemingly failing to bring their campaign back on track following a horror start, which cost coach Lloyd Mutasa his job before the temporarily appointment of Zuze.

While Zuze was given an opportunity to prove his suitability, he virtually destroyed his faint hopes of getting the job permanently after blasting his superiors for not taking care of the players’ welfare, which he said was the reason for the team’s woes.

The under-fire coach made the comments after DeMbare were outplayed by FC Platinum in the 2-0 defeat at Rufaro Stadium last Sunday.

Now barring any unforeseen circumstances, the game against Herentals today will be Zuze’s last match in charge of the Glamour Boys regardless of the result. club president Keni Mubaiwa revealed yesterday that they were on the brink of agreeing terms with a new coach.

“We have been headhunting and we are currently talking to some people we think have the capacity to steady the ship. The talks are at an advanced stage and we are likely going to make an announcement next [this] week,” Mubaiwa said.

“We have taken our time in finding a substantive replacement because we don’t want to leave any stone unturned in our quest to bring an end to our problems.

“We have been in this game long enough to know that sometimes you encounter challenges, but what’s important is not giving up and finding a solution.”

Mubaiwa could not be drawn to divulge the names of the coaches they are courting.

Chunga, an expert at working with young players and rescuing struggling teams, is one of the few big-name local coaches currently unattached in the local premiership.

Former Highlanders and Chicken Inn coach Rahman Gumbo was also reportedly linked with Dynamos although there were some doubts within some quarters in the DeMbare family given his strong links with Highlanders.

Former Warriors gaffer Kalisto Pasuwa has distanced himself from the vacant job while the idea of DeMbare hiring a foreign coach is also difficult to fathom considering that the club’s problems require a person with a deep understanding of how the club is run.

it, however, appears that Dynamos were willing to give Zuze a chance, but his utterances after last weekend’s home defeat to champions FC Platinum sealed his fate.

He lampooned the club executive for failing to motivate the players financially and revealing that his charges were still owed money from last season.

A midweek draw against Black Rhinos did not help Zuze’s cause as he seemed to appeal for patience after the glitch.
