Through the Killer Zivhu Foundation, Anna Ngwenya will have her home, which was razed down by a fire started by drunks two years ago, reconstructed at a cost of $15 000. Zivhu of Zanu PF also donated 1 000 goats to villagers in the area.

Ngwenya, who resides on the outskirts of the tourist town of Victoria Falls, has been living in a one-roomed shack with her six-year-old grandson.

“This has been my life ever since and what made it worse was that a few years ago, my grandchild’s boyfriends came at night and started fighting and they burnt my hut, which had everything we survived on,” she said.

Ngwenya, a widow, said she became destitute after she was deserted by her children.

“We sleep in this shack with my grandchild and we don’t have blankets or food,” she said.

“All my children left me when they grew up and I don’t even know their whereabouts.

“I am glad that this man came to assist me and I will own goats for the first time.”

Zivhu said it was high time Zimbabweans came together to help the less fortunate.

He said the donation of goats marked the beginning of a project that would benefit poor people across the country.

“The project will not be limited to Hwange, but we will roll this out in Chivi, Chipinge, Plumtree and as far as Binga,” he said.

“Those are the areas that I am targeting.”

Zivhu, whose philanthropic work has reached many communities, said he had also revived a project to help commercial sex workers to rebuild their lives through vending.
