WARRIORS star Marvelous Nakamba might have to wait a bit longer before he can make his debut in the Uefa Champions League next season amid reports that he is doubtful for Club Brugge’s opening group stage clash against German giants Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday.

The 24-year-old midfielder has been sidelined by a serious knee injury, which has kept him out of action since the start of the 2018-19 season. Nakamba also missed the Warriors’ 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Congo in Brazzaville last week.
Although he returned to training last week, Club Brugge’s Group A clash against Borussia Dortmund appears to have come a little too soon for the Zimbabwean star, according to reports from Belgium.
“Good news for Club Brugge and Marvelous Nakamba, who is close to his return. the midfield stronghold struggled with the knee since the title match in Liège and has been training again with the group since this week,” the Belgian publication Het Nieuwsblad reported on Friday.
“He was one of the strongest players at Club Brugge last season, but this season the fans in Jan Breydel have not yet been able to enjoy Marvelous Nakamba. He has been on the sidelines for a long time with a nasty injury.
“It is expected that he will celebrate his comeback in the foreseeable future, although the Champions League match against Dortmund next week and the top match against AA Gent [September 23] are probably too early.”
Nakamba, however, still has an opportunity to rub shoulders with some of the world’s best players as Club Brugge will also face French giants Monaco and Spanish heavyweights Atletico Madrid.

After his team won the Belgian championship and a ticket to the Uefa Champions League group stages, Nakamba said it was a dream come true for him to play in the prestigious competition.
“I think each and every player has a dream to participate in the biggest football club tournament in the world.
“Getting this opportunity, I will try to give everything and work hard,” the former Bantu Rovers and Vitesse Arnhem star said recently.
Nakamba, who has recently been linked with a move to the English Premiership, is set to join the legendary Bruce Grobbelaar as the only other Zimbabwean to play in the group stage of the Uefa Champions League.
