The show, which starts at 10am running up to 10pm, features a strong line-up, including Sebastian Magacha, Fungisai Zvakavapano-Mashavave, Mathias Mhere, Janet Manyowa, Minister Michael Mahendere, Kudzi Nyakudya and Mechanic Manyeruke, among others.

The organisers, Sound Blaze Productions, described the event as more on the comforting and inspirational side for “hard-pressed” Zimbabweans.

“The idea is to thank the Lord for where we are. There are so many things happening in the country — good and bad — and we are just mobilising Zimbabweans to come together and celebrate life through gospel music,” said Sound Blaze Productions marketing and public relations manager Simbarashe Mahenga.

“We know as a nation we have gone through turbulent moments, but we are saying let’s come and hear God’s message through music. We are inviting families to come, bring your camping chairs, food and drinks as we praise and worship the Lord through music.”

Gospel musician Minister Michael Mahendere, who is among the performers, has promised a stellar performance.

“I believe it will be an amazing show and we promise to give our best. Fans will expect us to perform the songs that they love and we will do exactly that,” he said.

Renowned producer and musician Forward Mazuruse, who is also billed to perform, said he was ready for the gospel music extravaganza.

“Gospel music concerts of this magnitude are very rare and I am happy to be performing with other respected musicians in the genre,” said Mazuruse.

“Beyond music production which I have been doing for close to two decades now, I have produced some good music, including the last album Jesus is Everything, Jesu Ndiye Zvese and Uko Nanini featuring Tanzanian Betty Barongo.”

Mahenga said all the musicians billed to perform had confirmed their participation.
