The global music arena has been populated with collaborations and a myriad of local musicians seem to have joined the bandwagon and it’s paying off.

For rising gospel musician Farai Makandanje, aka Social Doctor, collaborations have helped him boost his exposure in the cut-throat music industry.

The 25-year-old musician is riding high with a single titled Ndinotenda, a collaboration that he did with gospel songstress Bethen Pasinawako-Ngolomi and Kudzi Nyakudya.

Early this year, Social Doctor released a single titled Anoropafadza, which was produced by Gift Chipisa and features gospel songstress Pastor Olinda Marowa-Ziwenga.

Social Doctor collaborates with Pst Nezek and Tonderai Chimhanda on the song Jesu Waroverwa off his 2018 album titled Munoshamisa. The youthful gospel crooner also featured Pst Nezek on the song Ndimi Mwari off the same project.

He told Standard Style that the reason behind collaborations was the creative spark that two or more artistes coming together would generate.

“I am doing collaborations as a way of pushing forward my brand since joining forces with other musicians and that gives a good start for recognition in the music industry,” Social Doctor said.

“So far I have four collaborations, —Buruka Uone and Ndimi Mwari, which I did with PST Nezek, Anorapafadza with sister Olinda and Ndinotenda which features Kudzi.”

The businessman-cum — musician said by roping in Nyakudya, he was trying to do away with monotony in music. He believes the track Ndinotenda will fare well on the music scene.

“The market response to Ndinotenda is fair since it’s bringing in new followers, especially those from Kudzi’s side. Hopefully, it will peak after the release of the video,” Social Doctor said.

The gospel crooner has engaged gospel sensation Blessing Shumba for a duet before the end of the year.

“I am working on a fifth collaboration project that will feature Blessing Shumba,” he said.

“If the doors are open, I would love to do a collaboration with a foreign artiste, especially Tim Godfrey or Jimmy The Psalmist.”

Social Doctor made his entrance into the mainstream music industry with a single titled Buruka Uone in May last year before releasing an eight-track album titled Munoshamisa five months later.
