LOCAL gospel musicians have urged Zimbabweans to come in full support of their mega fundraising concert for victims of Cyclone Idai to be held today at the City Sports Centre in Harare, that is set to future stellar musicians such as Minister Michael Mahendere, Reverend Togarepi Chivaviro, ZimPraise, Mathias Mhere, fast-rising gospel songstress Janet Manyowa and Thembelami, among others.

Other musicians on the line-up are Pastor G, Saba Magachi, Praise Goveya, Nyasha Mutonhori and PS Josh Kays.

Minister Mahendere told Standard Style on Thursday that God moves in mysterious ways and He had united the musicians to partake in the event.

“We talk as gospel musicians. I spoke to our sister Janet Manyowa and she had the same idea and also my brother Joseph Madziyire was also planning the same,” Minister Mahendere said.

“So, the more we spoke with other gospel artistes, we found we all had a heart to do something, hence ending up agreeing on partnering for this great cause.”

Minister Mahendere said a dark cloud hung above the nation, but the sun would soon rise again through the resilient Zimbabwean people whose love reigned as evidenced by their many donations to the cyclone victims.

“The Holy Spirit will comfort and lead us through these difficult times,” he said.

Mhere said it was good that gospel musicians had united for a worthwhile cause in the aftermath of the cyclone, which claimed many lives and destroyed homes and other property in Manicaland and part of Masvingo provinces.

“We are doing this for our sons, brothers, sisters and parents. I am in pain. It’s not easy to be asleep while water floods your house. Our contributions will make a difference, we urge all Zimbabweans and churches to come and support this worthy cause,” Mhere said.

Goveya has welcomed the fundraising initiative and implored all musicians to dig deep in their pockets and raise funds to support others in need.
