Award-winning gospel musician Tatenda Mahachi has opted to release a single titled Victory at the end of this month ahead of the launch of his fifth album titled Magnifier in June.

The musician told Standard Style last week that he had shelved plans to release the 10-track album, but instead he would drop a single on April 29.

“I’m going to release a new song titled Victory, which will be sung in English, Shona and Swahili. This song has an upbeat tempo, which is likely to compete on the international level,” Mahachi said.

“The song is being produced by Rodney Beats. I was inspired by the suffering and loss of hope from many people going through trials and inflictions. l realised many people lose hope in the midst of challenges forgetting that no matter what we go through, we are victors.

“We need to realise who we are. Jesus Christ was crucified and suffered for us to enjoy and all our battles were won on the cross. It is against this background that l realised that no matter what we go through now, it doesn’t last for long as we are victors.”

Mahachi said the song would be available on all online stores.

“I wrote this song as we celebrate the rising of our King after Easter. l wrote the song while I was filled with the spirit and l do hope it will help many people,” he said.

“The song will be available on online platforms to allow the message reach out to the global community. It’s not about Zimbabwe alone, but for all of us across the globe.”

The Ndibvumbamirei singer said the single was a precursor to his forthcoming album.

“This single is a build-up to my fifth album to follow in June,” he said.

“It has been long since I released an album. I have been doing singles and it’s high time I came up with an album. “Magnifier is 10-track album and other songs on the project include A Friend, He Cares for You, You Alone, Vanowona and Nguva, among others.”

Mahachi said the single Victory was likely to be incorporated on the project. He has roped in local and international artistes for the album.

“I will feature three top musicians, including an international star, on the album. It will be a double launch as I will be releasing the album and recording a live DVD,” he said.

Mahachi made his debut on the gospel scene in 2007 with the album Muyedzo, which saw the video of the title track finishing on number 10 on the Top 100 Video Charts in 2007.

Three years later, with the assistance of producer Clive Mono Mukundu, Mahachi recorded his second album, Kure, which carried the hit track Vanogona.

The soccer-crazy musician featured the late South African multi-award winning artiste Sifiso Ncwane on the song Ndoda Jesu/ Ngiyamuthanda uJesu, which is on his fourth album Declarations.

Two years ago he did a collaboration with the late music superstar Oliver Mtukudzi titled Ndisiye.

He has shared the stage with top South African artistes like Dumi Mkhostad, Deborah Fraser and Sipho Makhabane.
