His performance at the Phoenix Rising Teen Awards and Music Festival at the Polo Arena in Lusaka, Zambia, last week on Saturday was phenomenal and next Saturday he heads for yet another regional gig in Mozambique.

South Africa-based Zimbabwean hip-hop musician King 98 seems to have struck the right chord when he launched his debut album titled Francesca “encircled” by some of the continent’s big acts. It’s paying off.

Next Saturday, the 21-year-old crooner, alongside his newly-found partner in music Nasty C, will perform at the CastleLiteUnlocks gig at the Campo do Maxaquene in Maputo, Mozambique. Mozambican Edson Abel Jeremias Tchamo, aka Laylizzy, will be part of the entertainers.

“King 98’s performance at the launch of the album in Harare attracted the attention of the promoter, who has asked him to come and perform in Mozambique on Saturday,” King 98 manager’s DJ Simmz said.

“He will perform alongside Nasty C and Laylizzy.”

Last Saturday, King 98 and Nasty C gave a vintage act when they performed in Zambia. The event, which featured local diva Ammara Brown, was organised by Zambian entertainment hub, Amigos Events.

“Their performance was out of this world. It seems the two have formed a telepathic understanding of one another,” DJ Simmz said.

King 98 features Nasty C on his album on the song Wacko and, according to the youthful crooner’s South Africa-based manager Faith Siphoro, the two will release a duet soon.

Meanwhile, King 98 will spend the better part of this month in Nigeria where he is scheduled to feature in three shows.

“He will take part in three shows — two in Lagos and one Abuja,” DJ Simmz said.

With the assistance of his Nigerian manager Sam Frank, King 98 will do a number of projects in that country, including recording a single with Nigerian singer Omoniyi Temidayo, popularly known as Zlatan.

King 98’s duet with Davido titled No Bad Vibes is doing well in South Africa, receiving rave airplay on radio stations.
