MDC MPs yesterday outnumbered their Zanu PF colleagues at the burial of the ruling party’s deputy chief whip Obedingwa Mguni in Macingwa Village, Mangwe, in Bulilima District.

Opposition supporters and MPs came in their numbers to bury the former Home Affairs deputy minister, who died on Tuesday after he fell ill during a Parliament session.

Speaking during the burial, leader of the House and Justice minister, Ziyambi Ziyambi, commended the opposition legislators for coming out in their numbers for the burial.

He said the turnout was a reflection of the late Mguni’s character as he used to relate with everyone across the political divide.

“I am very impressed with the turn-up by members from the opposition, but also Parliament had other business of which most members had to attend to. That is why their turn-out here is too low,” said Ziyambi as he explained the absence of many Zanu PF MPs.

Buhera West MP Soul Nzuma and Chegutu West legislator Dexter Nduna were also impressed by the turn-out of MDC MPs at the funeral.
