Harare model Ruvimbo Mugweni (26) says taking part in Leroy “Leeknotic” Mhike’s video of the song My Babe taught her love and companionship.

The video, which was directed by award-winning Andy Cutta, was released last Tuesday through online video-sharing platform YouTube.

The video portrays a beautiful girl (played by Ruvimbo) who is caught in between two situations — she is in a relationship with a wealthy boyfriend (played by Amvis) who doesn’t give her attention and affection, and then she is caught up in a compromising situation where she enjoys time with a another man (played by Leeknotic) who has all the time to give her all the attention she deserves. She is caught up in a dilemma as who to be with, but eventually she sticks to the more caring Leeknotic.

Ruvimbo has featured on six music videos and is looking forward to do more.

“Being a part of the video taught me some things about love, things that anyone, including me, can relate to,” Ruvimbo said.

“The video really shows or points out that when you are with your woman, give her time, love her, appreciate and cherish every single moment you are with her.

“Don’t give any loophole for her to think of her ex-boyfriend or other men who are after her. As women, we need to be appreciated.”

The Chitungwiza-born model started modelling at primary school although her parents were against it.

“I now stay in Belvedere and I am grown up. My parents now understand me and my passion. I enjoy modelling and wish to see myself going places and reaching greater heights in the modelling industry,” she said.

Ruvimbo said it was Andy Cutta who introduced her to Leeknotic.

“I met Andy Cutta the day Leeknotic was going to shoot his video, so he just told me that he had something for me,” she said.

“I agreed and we went to work. I really enjoyed working with Leeknotic, he made me feel belonging and Andy is someone you will never get bored working with. He knows his work.”

Ruvimbo said people should not stereotype models as people of loose morals.

“Modelling is about passion and is a career just like any other white colour job. People should stop viewing models as people of loose morals,” she said.
