Bulawayo-based film producer Solomon “Daiza” Mandaza has put together a thriller local drama series that is set to hit the ZBC-TV screen starting today at 9pm.

It has already been received with great critical acclaim by seasoned figures in the film industry, resulting in the national broadcaster giving it a nod to be beamed every Sunday.

Titled Mandla, the production features a local thug named Mandla who is a bad boy and notorious for everything that is wrong such as drug taking, theft and dishonesty. He decides to turn back from his bad habits after being rejected by his family and society. However, he finds it hard to discard the lifestyle as his rival Nduk’mbi will not let him quit the game that easily.

While hoping for a better life off the streets, and is trying by all means to mend things between him and his family, Nduku kills Mandla’s mother forcing him to return to the streets as he wants justice for his mother.

On the other hand, Mandla’s feelings for a beautiful lady, Charlene, have grown dramatically as he now wants her to be his official girlfriend only to find out that Charlene has a boyfriend making it hard for Mandla to win Charlene’s heart.

The production was shot at fantastic scenes in Bulawayo.

“The drama is full of exciting scenes and we never thought it would receive great appreciation from experts in the industry who sampled it,” Mandaza said.

“We are so excited that we have been supported so hugely by our fans and it gives us the power to soldier on and create more productions. Viewers on TV will have exciting times and we thank all who helped us to reach this stage.”

Also starring in the drama series are Calvin Madula — the award winning actor, Antoinette Sango, Nanziwe Zibanda, Grace Dhlamini, Mzingaye Ncube, Priscilla Chisoro and McDonald.

RocShark Company (Simz Wacho Visuals & RocMedia Filmz) and Percy Soko also put their hands on the deck in producing the series.
