Songstress Selmor Mtukudzi says she will give her best to keep her father’s South African legacy alive when she performs in that country at an Xtratime Entertainment and Mukuru.Com-organised concert dubbed Selmor Mtukudzi and Friends Music Concert at the end of next month.

The concerts, which will be held in Johannesburg and Cape Town, will run under the banner Mukuru “Tuku” Concert.

Xtratime Entertainment and Mukuru.Com have in the past organised a number of shows south of the Limpopo in and around the month of September, which were meant to celebrate the life of the late Neria singer.

Mtukudzi was born on September 22, 1952 and died this year in January.

“I promise to do my best to deliver the music that they love in the best way possible. It’s going to be an emotional roller coaster kind of show where there will be tears and laughter. They should come expecting to have a good time,” Selmor told Standard Style last week.

“I’m just glad I have the opportunity to both mourn and celebrate the art and life of our father together with his fans in South Africa. It means a lot to me to be able to connect with others who loved him too.

“I hope this show will be a great success, thereby being the start of a long-term relationship. I appreciate everything the promoters of this initiative did with my father and I want to say ‘thank you so much for continuing to push our father’s legacy forward’. #TukuMusicLivesOn.”

Xtratime Entertainment’s Tongai Mbidzo said it was befitting to continue with the gigs as a way of keeping Tuku’s legacy alive.

“Everything is in place for the big shows. Tickets are already selling in and outside South Africa,” Mbidzo said.

The first show will be held in Johannesburg at the Boksburg Hotel on September 27, while Mercury Live Concert Venue would host the Cape Town show the following day.
