Letter to my people BY DOCTOR STOP IT

My Dear People,

It looks like the truth is catching up with some people who depend on lies for their survival.

And when institutions or administrations depend on lies or created stories for legitimacy, the truth has a way of coming out- untainted!

Take the story told by Jonathan Moyo when he spoke about how at Mgagao, Zipra guerillas or Ndebele-speaking combatants were killed by their colleagues in Zanla.

And we have been following the liberation war accounts of some combatants in Zanu PF-controlled media who have all, but confirmed what Moyo recounted.

When that story came out at the time, a lot of commanders who are believed to have been implicated in the massacres at Mgagao got their knickers in a knot as they tried to deny the existence of such massacres in the guerilla camps in the run-up to and during the formation of the Zimbabwe People’s Army, (Zipa).

A lot of “heroes”, who are occupying leadership positions in government, diplomatic service and industry were commanders at Mgagao when the massacres were committed.

In his book, Andrew Ndlovu confirms the massacres and even names some of the camp commanders who were calling the shots when the massacres happened.

So, thanks to a Zanu PF-controlled publication, the truth has slipped out.

It has been confirmed that the operational phrase when efforts were being made to unite the fighting freedom fighters, was “damburai vakomana veZipra” (kill the Zipra guerillas.)

We wonder why there was so much effort in trying to deny the truth by some of the Operation Restore Legacy activists.

They are known and there are witnesses.

Could things that happened during the war such as the massacres in Tanzania fall under war crimes?

Could they be combined with the Gukurahundi massacres to make strong cases for the International Criminal Court?

Just thinking aloud and wondering why there were such spirited denials and yet people know the truth.

Zimbabwe scores useless diplomatic success

I am told that plans are at an advanced stage for a million-men march in solidarity with some of the exceptional diplomatic successes that ED Lacoste has been scoring on that front.

This is clearly one of the positive outcomes from his charm offensive while holding the begging bowl, flying in a plane which rich countries cannot afford to rent for their presidents, who at least deliver better lives for their people.

The million-men and women march, according to proposals from the party, will be the beginning of month-long celebrations to honour the Lacoste faction for

being made chairperson of a Sadc organ on peace and security.

It has to be pointed out that if Gushungo, Chinotimba, Gonyeti, Job Sikhala, Moses “Bambo” Chunga or even Chamisa were president of Zimbabwe, they would also be chairing that organ as it was Zimbabwe’s turn anyway.

The not-so-charitable will add that there is no value in chairing any Sadc organ or summit because Sadc only benefits its leaders, and not the citizens.

After the march, there will be musical galas in all the 10 major provinces before football tournaments are held in honour of this great achievement!

Meanwhile, news that ED was given the honour to observe the signing of some agreements in Japan has also been welcomed as another diplomatic victory.

Although many believe he was chosen because of his colourful scarf for brightening the pictures, back home it is being regarded as a sign that we have been welcomed back into the family of nations.

Even the routine brief meeting between Lacoste and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was spiced back home as part of “crucial” talks.

We all know that in the about 15 minutes of exchange, the Lacoste strong man was told to implement political and economic reforms. Meaning, Zimbabwe is basically regarded as a pariah state.

Maybe another gala should be held in honour of the meeting between Lacoste and the Japanese Prime Minister.

Somebody please rein in Lacoste son-in-law

It is really sad and unfortunate that the careers and economic fortunes of many Zimbabwean cricketers have been wrecked following the rather hard-to-understand interference by the Sports and Recreation Commission.

From the look of things, they seem to approach all issues with open mouths and closed ears and eyes.

Are they settling old scores? Are they simply incompetent? Or they just don’t know what they are doing?

The problem is when the President’s relative is heading such sensitive institutions, they should always act in the best interests of all involved.

Especially sport, which is about the only thing which unites Zimbabweans while his father-in-law is busy wrecking the country’s economy and making everybody’s life miserable.

Now they have set their sights on destroying football. Our beloved football.

It does not help matters when the First Lady, Busybody Cyclone Auxilia, is always getting into everybody’s way and shouting at soldiers who provide her with security.

Somebody needs to whisper into her ear that the only way adequate security can be provided is if the same soldiers know everything that she does, travelling route and the people that she meets. That way, she remains safe. It’s not espionage!
