In his quest to see Zimdancehall moving forward, Victoria Falls-based promoter Paul Shambare, widely known as Elder Shambare, has championed a dancehall riddim titled Elder Shambare.

Launched last week, the ridim has a number of musicians both upcoming and established.

Elder Shambare believes that there is need to instill a culture of promoting upcoming talent in the country as a way of putting the local music industry on the map.

“There is a lot of talent in the country and there is need for us as promoters to cultivate that talent without looking for benefits as such,” Elder Shambare told Standard Style.

Already the newly-launched ridim has been well-received by dancehall lovers with Hwindi President and Silent Killer’s songs topping the list.

Elder Shambare said it was important to have a culture of ridims in Zimdancehall as a way of merging artistes.

“A solo career as an artiste is the way to go, but there are times that you need to have collaborations so that you develop and learn from others. That is why we said this riddim should have artistes from all the regions in Zimbabwe,” he said.

He believes business opportunities among artistes can be created if they unite, sharing ideas.

Elder Shambare said he was happy with the reception and urged promoters and organisations to get their input into the genre that has hit Zimbabwe by storm.

“The idea is to promote Zimdancehall in Zimbabwe and as Express Entertainment, we are going to have a number of projects to support that initiative. Since we are based in Victoria Falls, we will support musicians from all the regions so that they can push the idea forward,” he said.

Marlon T hailed Elder Shambare for that idea saying it brings musicians together as well as creating identity for the genre that has been topping in the country.

“The idea of riddims is good because it keeps the identity of the genre as well as bringing musicians together. We applaud Express Entertainment for working with us to uplift talents,” he said.

Musicians that include Hwindi President, Jah Master, Kabhidha and Nicky Vybes, among others, are on the riddim.

Hwindi President said the reception was enthusiastic and he would continue working hard to please his fans together with those who support him.

“Elder Shambare has shown confidence in us as a brand ad we feel encouraged. It is also good that I have seen a number of upcoming dancehall musicians, this shows the genre is growing,” he said.
