Gospel musician Blessing Shumba (pictured below) is having a headache on which six songs to choose for his forthcoming album titled Covenant set for release this year.

The award-winning gospel crooner has 400 unrecorded songs to pick from.

Shumba is still riding on the crest of a wave after releasing an album titled Ndimweya last year, his seventh offering with 13 tracks.

“l am having a headache at the moment because l have 400 songs at my disposal and l have to choose at least six or seven for my next album,” he said.

“l have already named my upcoming album Covenant and it will be released this year. However, l dont have the exact date for the launch.

“We are yet to come up with our favourite songs to make up the album.”

Shumba, who was recently on a tour of Botswana, said he was open for collaborations with other musicians.

“l was recently in Botswana where l was invited to perform at a certain church and it was a good experience as l was greatly welcomed. I want to tell upcoming gospel musicians that l am open for collaborations,” he said.

“Last year l had seven or eight collaborations with fellow gospel musicians. I am happy where l am as a musician since l started singing in 2008. l don’t sing for fame, but to preach the Word of God.”

The musician, who owns a studio in Mutare, is also grooming upcoming musicians.
