PROMINENT businessman and philanthropist Nigel Chanakira will share the snippets of being a successful entrepreneur and how to become one in difficult times alongside lawyer and motivational speaker Arthur Marara at the inaugural entrepreneurship expo set for February 29 at Crown Plaza Hotel in Harare.

The one-day expo, which is being organised by the Zimbabwe African Entrepreneur Association (ZAEA) and will be held under the theme, How to Become a Successful Entrepreneur in Difficult Times — is expected to draw hundreds of both upcoming and seasoned businesspersons across the country.

In an interview with Standard Style ahead of the expo, ZAEA founding president Andrew Hwititi outlined the objective of the expo as to explore the deeper understanding of the important role of the entrepreneurs in the global economy and support for the local entrepreneurs in building wealth through genuine business means.

“Local entrepreneurs are a key player in the growth of our country’s economy and in recognition of that, the main idea of our inaugural expo, set for the end of this month (February 29) from 2pm to 5pm, is to empower businesspeople and leaders of similar interests while also giving them an opportunity for networking, development, collaboration and mentoring,” Hwititi said.

“This expo that will have seasoned entrepreneur Nigel Chanakira and veteran motivational speaker Arthur Marara as our main speakers will provide members with the opportunities to learn from each other’s experience and benefit from the advantages of an organised network of entrepreneurs.”

Hwititi said the registration fee for the expo has been set at $300, adding that its objective was also to cement ZAEA’s mission to advocate for the continued recognition of local entrepreneurs for inclusion and active participation in all sectors of the economy.

“At the expo, there will also be opportunities to encourage entrepreneurs and enhancing the success of locally owned businesses in Zimbabwe, thereby contributing to combating unemployment, developing standards of living and growing our economy,” he said.

“ZAEA is an agent to facilitate the development of dynamic entrepreneurs in Zimbabwe as we always lobby for the interests and continued recognition of local businesspeople across all sectors. “We support the initiating of projects, processes and programmes that positively impact the immediate communities.”

Hwititi said at the expo all the businesspeople who attend would have an opportunity to create investment networking, adding that there would also be identification of weaknesses and problems faced by them and finding solutions.

“Through this expo, we also seek to facilitate the development of dynamic entrepreneurs in Zimbabwe by strengthening their entrepreneurial capacities with focus on the growth of locally-owned businesses across all sectors,” he said.
