Local author Ishmail Penyai (pictured below) has penned a Ndau Christian poetry book titled Chasara Panyika Kunamata, which he says is a celebration of God’s grace among Christians, on how the Creator changes one’s life in which he is eyeing the Mozambican market to sell it.
“Chasara Panyika Kunamata is a series of three books of Ndau religious poetry. It starts with volume one right up to volume three,” he said.
“The only thing that’s left on this earth is praying without ceasing, prayer after prayer, everything that we are busy looking for is hidden in prayer, you have to unveil your prayers in order to see the divine intervention in your life, your community and country.
“God is there to reveal His divine intervention when the right time comes, but some people have a tendency to always want to rush God and quarantine Him when life is rosy.”
He said Chasara Panyika Kunamata contains examples of people who got to their destiny because they invited God into their lives, urging one not to be disheartened in whatever happened or is happening in their life.
“There is nothing that God can’t do for you and me. Above all, there is nothing that God cannot do for our country, Zimbabwe,” Penyai said.
“I believe God has divine intervention for all the challenges we are sailing through as a country and all we need is to put our eyes on the prize every day.

There is not much Christian literature in Ndau language and as a result I draw my inspiration from that literal imbalance.”
He said the book was published by Dzekanyi Publications in Chimanimani and plans are afoot to take it to Mozambique where there are many Ndau speakers.
“My target audience first are those who are fluent in this language and others who enjoy our 16 official languages of Zimbabwe. We also need to take this book across to Mozambique for selling since Mozambique has 90% Ndau-speaking people.
“Ndau is already being taught in Mozambican schools and this translates into a second market for my book. I will soon be distributing free copies to all teachers, colleges and universities in Zimbabwe,” he said.
