“The most beautiful thing you can wear is confidence.” These words uttered by successful American actress Blake Lively rang true for multi-award-winning TV presenter Kim Jayde (pictured) last week.

A post of pictures without make-up on Instagram almost turned awful for Jayde — born Kimberly Robinson — after cyber bullies among her over 239 000 followers started throwing flaks at her natural look.

However, the South Africa-based, but Zimbabwean-bred damsel, who was initially miffed by the vile reactions, took to the same platform with a bold caption to pictures of herself not wearing any mascara.

“[I] posted on my Ig [Instagram] stories with no make-up and got so many dms [direct messages] telling me how ugly I am. It definitely hurt, because I am human. But now I’m posting on my feed, where it will stay, because today No1 will steal my joy! Love your beautiful self just as you are! God doesn’t make mistakes,” she wrote.

The KJ Productions boss is not the first Zimbabwean public figure to fall prey to various kinds of internet bullying, which is a growing phenomenon where some individuals go online to spew negativity, particularly against high-profile individuals.

Earlier this year, radio and TV personality Ruvheneko Parirenyatwa endured a similar share of deficiency in cyber etiquette, but ended up “making lemonade from lemons” by devising a no-make-up challenge.

Back to Jayde, she was born in Harare and grew up in Bulawayo where she attended Dominican Convent Junior School before proceeding to Girls College for her high school education.

She later moved to South Africa for her university studies in 2009 and graduated in 2012 with an Honours Degree in Social Work and Psychology.

A beauty with brains, although with such a gorgeous appearance and bubbly character coupled with hard work, she was definitely destined for a career in the cutthroat world of showbiz.
