The thanksgiving song, which was produced by renowned music producer MacDonald Macdee Chidavaenzi, also features multi award-winning South African artiste Zaza Mokhethi.

“It feels good to be recognised and appreciated and I just want to thank the Maranatha Awards team USA for such an honour,” an elated Makombe said in an interview.

“Special thanks goes to my beloved sister Zaza, her husband and manager Lebo Mokhethi who accepted our invitation to record the song together in Zimbabwe. They have both been very supportive in my career behind the scenes and they continue to support me.”

Makombe relocated to the UK at the age of 17 and is now married to her business partner Tinotenda Makombe. She conceded that her journey as a newby in professional music had been a rough ride.

“I can say that as a new gospel artiste, it’s been an interesting journey especially to reach out to the market, but because of God’s grace here we are.

“Breaking into the music business is harder than other industries, I think. You need a lot of help to make gospel indusry connections and also need to build the discipline necessary for a successful career,” she shared.

By maintaining cool and calculated strides since the release of her debut album, The Lord’s Hand, back in 2017, Makombe is slowly getting the attention of music lovers as she has enjoyed a lot of airplay on local radio stations this year.

“My music has now featured in the charts on Zimbabwe’s radio stations, namely ZiFM Gospel Top 20, Capitalk, Power FM and also my video for the song Tenda has been played on ZTV’s Sunday Morning Gospel Show,” she remarked.

With the future looking bright for her, the mother of two is already in the studio working on her second album.

“I am going to release my second album titled Season of Grace next year. We also plan on recording a live DVD project, which was initially slated for this year, but had to be shelved due the coronavirus pandemic.”
