LOCAL Afro-pop artiste Panashe “Drika” Viriri is on cloud nine after his song caught the attention of Diamond Platnumz’s former wife and Ugandan businesswoman Zari Hassan.

Hassan did a video of Drika’s song, which is now trending in East Africa.

Drika also made waves after his video featuring Poptain was selected to feature on the Channel O playlist, “Yes, yes, recently I dropped a song titled Remember Me and I don’t know how it reached out to Zari — The Boss Lady and Diamond Platinumz’s ex-wife,” Drika told Standard Style.

“Zari did a reaction video where she is seen dancing to the song and that influenced a lot of people from the east to go check out the song. It has created a lot of excitement among people in East Africa compelling them to start a dance challenge.”

The 20-year-old rapper said music runs in his DNA since his father Tinos Viriri, aka Slice, who is now based in Canada, is also into music.

“Music runs in our family, my father Tinos Viriri, who is popularly known as Slice in the music circles, is also a musician and I am glad that things are turning out as I wished for,” Drika said.

“I did a video clip dancing to the song Remember Me and then asked the NashTV team to post the clip on their page and that is how Zari got to know about the song. She then reached out to me requesting the full audio.

“Well, I couldn’t believe it man. I was very happy, so excited man. For a second I was like it’s a fake account, but then I got shocked when she forwarded me videos of her reacting to the track.”

Drika said he was looking to making more good music this year.

The youthful artiste started singing early and recorded his first song in 2011 when he was 10 years old.

He once collaborated with award-winning hip-hop star T-Gonzi on a track titled Usandibate, produced by T-Man and Poptain, and on another track titled Something, which was produced by Cymplex.
