WARRIORS defender Divine Lunga suffered a huge scare after escaping unhurt after crashing his vehicle in Durban, South Africa, yesterday.

The 25 year-old Lamontville Golden Arrows left-back, who had just recovered from an ankle injury which ruled him out of his team’s match last Tuesday, was lucky to come out of the crash unharmed as his car was badly damaged in the accident.

Zifa’s general manager for all national teams Wellington Mpandare confirmed the accident, but allayed fears that he could have suffered injuries during the crash.

In fact, Mpandare revealed that Lunga, who missed his team’s 2-1 loss against Ovidy Karuru’s Black Leopards on Tuesday due to an ankle injury, had since recovered from the injury setback.

“Yes, Divine Lunga has just told me that he was involved in an accident in Durban, but we thank God that he escaped unharmed. He said his car was badly damaged, but the most important thing is he wasn’t harmed,” he said.

Mpandare said Lunga would be available for selection on Wednesday when Arrows host Baroka at Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium

“He didn’t play when his team lost to Ovidy Karuru’s team (Black Leopards) on Tuesday, but he says he is now back to full fitness and will be available for selection when Golden Arrows play against Baroka on Wednesday,” Mpandare said.

Lunga has been doing well for club and country and had a decent match for the Warriors in November in the Afcon qualifiers against Algeria.

The roving left-back is expected to carry his form into next month’s concluding Nations Cup qualifying matches against Botswana and Zambia after being included in the enlarged Warriors squad announced last week.
