South Africa-based gospel musician Leroy Mugadza says fellow gospel musician Mathias Mhere has given him inspiration in his musical career as he has released three albums and several singles.

Mugadza, who is a songwriter, is already working on his fourth album. In an interview with Standard Style last week, the talented musician said he was on the right path as a musician before applauding Mhere’s impact on his musical career.

“So far, I have recorded three albums and 20 singles. I have worked with several musicians in Zimbabwe and South Africa. I started singing in school choirs, I once led  the Apostolic Faith Mission (AFM) praise and worship team from 2010 to 2015 and I have been singing with Zim gospel legends like Mathias Mhere and Mr Liberty Ticharwa,” Mugadza said.

“Mathias Mhere has made so much impact on me. He has been such a good brother. I am happy with his motivation on me.

So far I am seeing progress in my musical career and there is more room to improve. I am working on my fourth album, but I don’t have the title track as yet.”

Mugadza recorded his first album Jesu Aripo in 2010 which is available on digital platforms. His other albums are Moto WeMapepa and Chikwee. The musician, who is studying Theology in South Africa, is also a great admirer of gospel stars Benjamin Dube, Dr Tumi and Loyiso Bala.

He also spoke about his background.

“I was raised in a Christian family by a single parent. I was born in September 1984 and l did my primary and secondary education in Gutu before moving to Gweru where I enhanced my musical career,” he said.

Some of his single tracks include Anoshandura, Hupenyu, Muchinjikwa, Mwaka WeNyasha and Tichafara.
