When God created Adam and finished, He noticed there was something missing and in an effort to identify that missing component He caused animals to pass before Adam. But it seemed none of the animals was compatible or was able to be  a helper to Adam. Finally, God caused man to sleep and in his sleep He took out a rib. Your ribs essentially serve so many purposes: They protect your heart, lungs, other organs and tissues in your upper body. They also provide some protection for your liver and kidneys. They provide structure and support to the bones and muscles in your chest, shoulders and back. So, essentially the foundational material for Adam’s helper was something that was created to protect and hold together the human body and bones. Without your ribs, you are at risk of internal injuries and it would be impossible to even stand.

Your ribs are vulnerable without the protection of the skin and tissues. Both man and woman cannot live successful apart from each other, no wonder the Word says: When man is of age he should leave his father’s house and cleaves unto his wife.” This connection is like a puzzle. The picture is only beautiful or visible when the puzzle is completed. A man and a woman were created to live as a couple and it seems both parties function well when connected together.

But yet in our time marriage is a failed   institution. It seems man has found other ways to leave without cleaving to the woman who was created to complete and perfect his life. Women were created as helpers to men. Looking at the foundational material women were made from, you will easily  pick up the role of a woman immediately and how both parties cannot live separate from each other.

Both the body and ribs protect each other. The body protects externally (man) and the ribs protect internally (woman). A woman helps a man deal with the internal issues because men always try to act as if they are not emotional. A woman helps a man deal with internal issues and a woman who has mastered her role can unearth from her husband any hidden issues that can cause him to fail and at times help him discover his true potential.  In the same way a man is there to provide for a  woman’s external needs.

Because a woman is more connected to her inner feelings and emotions, she can help a man deal with internal issues. Men try hard not to show that they are emotional, but in a healthy marriage a man becomes emotional. Because the rib’s foundational purpose is to protect the heart, the woman protects the man from pain and issues that may build up and bring harm to them (some diseases are caused by unresolved internal issues).

Men are called to take care of the woman’s physical or external issues and have been successful at it for millenniums, but one area the man has failed is to open up emotionally and allow the woman to  do her own job.

A woman was created from a rib and  possesses the same qualities as those of ribs, which are  to protect and hold together the life of a man  in the same way ribs protect and hold together the body.

When a man and a woman are married there is balance that comes into both of their lives. God never intended for man to be alone and man cannot function well outside of marriage. Let the biblical marriages be restored.

God Bless your marriage.
